After a year of community engagement, a draft of the Envision Shakopee 2040 Comprehensive Place is ready for review. A comprehensive plan sets the vision for the city’s future and will help guide its work for the next 10 years.

The plan is centered around 10 community priorities and 12 big ideas. These big ideas include:

1. Create a fresh impression
2. Rediscover the river
3. Enhance economic clusters
4. Diversify housing options
5. Revitalize First Avenue
6. Knit the community together
7. Connect people to nature
8. Foster civic life in civic spaces
9. Position for the new economy
10. Spark the start-up culture
11. Support regional transit
12. Celebrate big fun!

The public is invited to review a draft of the plan at an open house Wednesday, June 27 at the Community Center. There will be other opportunities for community input throughout July and August. 

The intent is to continue to revise and edit the document over the next two months with the goal of sending the draft plan out for adjacent and affected jurisdiction review in early September.
