The replacement of three marked patrols Nos. sk1029, sk1030 and sk1031 is included in the 2019 Capital Improvement Plan (see attached information sheet CIP No. Equip-19-311). These vehicles are being purchased under the State of Minnesota Contract No. 83064. The quotation from Ford of Hibbing is attached and is consistent with the state contract.

Early authorization to purchase the equipment as part of the 2019 CIP is being recommended to meet the deadline to purchase the 2019 model (vs. the 2020 model). Ford will be redesigning and upgrading the style of the 2020 Police Interceptor production model with a potential price increase and several unknowns that could require us to also upgrade and purchase the aftermarket squad package that we install - we usually salvage much of this equipment from the old squad and transfer it to the new squad. In an effort to minimize our costs, purchasing the current 2019 model will allow us to reuse our existing setup equipment, but we will need to order the new 2019 Police Interceptors by September 21, 2018. We do not expect to receive delivery or to pay for the vehicles until 2019.

Three old patrol vehicles are anticipated to be proclaimed as surplus once the new vehicles are put into service.
