On Tuesday, September 4, 2018 the City Council approved the hire of Jay Tobin as Parks and Recreation Director. We had many fine applications but Mr. Tobin rose to the top because of his leadership acumen, collaborative approach and unique, parallel experience in the military.
Mr. Tobin has a long resume of successful leadership in recreation programming, finance and military service.Since 2016, Mr. Tobin has worked in finance for the City of Chaska where he serves as finance manager. Prior to 2016 Mr. Tobin served in the military where since 2011 he served in support services for Fort Campell and then for Installation command. During Mr. Tobin's military service he worked closely with recreation programs for service members, their families and retirees.
Mr. Tobin also holds multiple advanced degrees in Public Administration, Business Administration and Human Relations. In addition, Mr. Tobin has taken the National Recreation and Park Association Parks and Recreation Professional prep course and we expect him to test and be certified shortly after the commencement of his employment.
