| | | | | | | | Subject: Scheduled Replacement of the Datacenter UPS | | |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Approve the purchase and installation of a new replacement Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the main datacenter from EPS Electric for $26,985 with a 5% contingency for any unforeseen issues. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Approve the purchase and installation of the new replacement UPS. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion: Our current model of UPS will reach the end of support in December of 2018 where some parts are no longer serviceable, supportable or obtainable. After that date, we will no longer be able to subscribe to any managed service on the device which includes: part replacement, battery maintenance, and yearly testing. A faulty UPS in the datacenter could result in loss of business continuity, damage to electronic equipment, and possibly impact to staff services to residents. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact: The cost of the UPS replacement is part of the CIP for 2018 and will be paid for with the IT Internal Service Fund. The estimated cost was $35,000 so we are under budget at $26,985 with a 5% contingency. Two quotes were obtained and we are going with the lowest quote. | | |
