Discussion:
The IT Policy has been updated to reflect many of the latest technology changes and challenges to keep employees, assets, and information safer. This document is critical for increasing the knowledge and awareness of staff in the use of city related systems. As technology, the workplace, and staff are fluid entities, so should this document to match all those pieces in a fast paced world.
All users should feel empowered and educated to protect systems, data, and physical asset throughout the city. Users should feel comfortable to report any issues they come across in their daily work that can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of any system.
Reminders, training, and an overall heightened awareness are keys to a successful and safer workplace. These policies help set the tone that physical and electronic security should be in the forefront of everything and not seen as a hindrance to any of the great work we do.
