Discussion:
During the summer of 2016, the drainage way and spillway area between 12th Avenue and Highway 169 experienced significant erosion (see attached location map). In response, an emergency project was developed that included repairing the existing pond overflow and extending the outlet pipe to reduce the risk of future continued erosion and spillway failure.
On May 2, 2017, City Council reviewed two quotes and awarded a contract for the project to Krueger Excavating of Prior Lake, Minnesota, in the amount of $62,096.00 with an authorized 15% contingency amount. The original engineers estimate for the construction was $51,000.
To date, all of the improvements have been constructed in accordance with the contract documents. Attached is the Certificate of Completion showing the original contract amount of $62,096.00 and the actual final contract costs of $66,327.67. The final payment amount is $6,707.88, which includes the final contract work completed in summer 2018 and the remainder of the retainage. The final contract amount is 6.8% over the original contract amount, but within the authorized contingency amount.
