| | | | | | | | Discussion: Wold Architects & Engineers is requesting that the City Council set a public hearing date to consider the application for vacation of a 25-foot-wide public utility easement associated with the previously vacated Fuller Street (between 4th and 5th Avenues).
Introduction:
Wold Architects & Engineers is proposing the construction of an expansion to the Scott County Government Center & Justice Center on this property, and would like to utilize the area of the lot for construction of new building. Fuller Street has been vacated but a dedicated utility easement was reserved within this right-of-way. However, the Scott County Justice Center is presently located within this easement, and the construction of the new addition would encroach within that utility easement. As part of this expansion, this easement will no longer be needed by the City and Shakopee Public Utilities (SPU); therefore, the applicant has submitted an application requesting approval to vacate this easement.
The attached Resolution No. R2018-138 sets a public hearing date of Tuesday, January 22, 2019 to consider the vacation of this public utility easement. On that date, comments from staff members and utilities, as well as a recommendation from the Planning Commission, will be presented to the City Council for consideration. The Planning Commission will consider the request at its January 3, 2019 meeting.
