| | | | | | | | Subject: Donations for the statue of Reverend Pond | | |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested:
Accept donations from various parties for the creation and installation of a statue of Rev. Pond in Downtown Shakopee.
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Motion to accept the donations in the following amounts: Marschall Charitable Trust $1,000; Shakopee Public Utilities Commission $4,000; Doran Canterbury I, LLC $25,000; Canterbury Park Minnesota Charitable Fund $25,000 along with other donations totaling $56,466. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
Reverend Pond was one of Shakopee's original settlers and he had a very unique relationship with the Dakota community and actually developed the Dakota alphabet. Chief Shakopee stands at the entrance of Shakopee and downtown welcoming people and Rev. Pond will stand facing south under the arch at River City Center.
