Discussion:
The replacement of two single axle plow trucks (Unit Nos. SK1087 and SK1089) are included in the 2019 Capital Improvement Plan (see attached information sheet for CIP No. Equip-19-422). The chassis are being purchased under Minnesota State Contract 1246498, and the accessories and installations are being purchased under Minnesota State Contract 144750. Quotation forms from Nuss Truck and Equipment and from Towmaster Truck Equipment are attached and are consistent with the state contract purchase amounts.
The city's existing plow trucks are 2004 Sterling models and are on a 15-year replacement schedule. One of these trucks (Unit No. SK1087) will be traded in for $24,000 and the other truck (Unit No. SK1089) will be held over and retained by the city as a standby and/or backup plow truck. A prior hold over plow truck (Unit No. SK1146) will be traded in for $19,000.
The 2019 Mack cab and chassis from Nuss Truck and Equipment are priced at $96,670/each (total for two $193,340). The price from Towmaster Truck Equipment for the box, hoist, plows, controls and accessories including the installation and setup for each truck is $133,182/each (total for two $266,364).
