| | | | | | | | Discussion:
The State of Minnesota has a grant program providing local units of government funding to connect trails where short gaps exist, especially in areas where the connection will enhance pedestrian activity and use. DNR Local Trail Connection grant applications are due on or before March 29, 2019.
The City of Shakopee has a potential trail project which would benefit from this grant. The County State Highway (CSAH) 16 trail project is currently in the city's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and is planned to be constructed in 2020. The project proposes to construct two missing trail segments along CSAH between CSAH 18 and CSAH 21. | | |

The project estimate for the CSAH 16 Trail Extension is $200,000 which is allocated in the 2019 CIP. $30,000 of the total cost is for easement acquisition which is not included in the grant application. The city will be asking for $100,000 in grant funding with a local match of $70,000 for a total of $170,000. | | |
