Elkanah Abobo has applied for a conditional use permit for vehicle repair at 2800 4th Ave E, to operate Ultimate Auto in the Shakopee Secure Storage Development (see plans and photos attached). Shakopee Secure Storage is a recently constructed building that received a conditional use permit in 2018 and is intended for use as storage bays or shop space for contractors to rent.
Mr. Abobo is currently the only employee of Ultimate Auto and currently shares shop space on Citation Drive in Shakopee. Mr. Abobo proposes to move his operation to one of the bays at 2800 4th Ave E so he can have his own shop space and grow his business. As stated in his narrative, Mr. Abobo picks up customer's vehicles and takes them to his shop, performs the necessary repairs, and then returns the vehicles to his customers. No outside storage of vehicles or parts is proposed. The site currently is currently occupied by one large multi-bay building. Other building(s) to the west that are noted on the site plan will be constructed at a later date, which was approved by the initial conditional use permit.
Other city departments and outside agencies have reviewed this request, with the Fire Department providing comments on complying with MN State Fire Code and Scott County Hazardous Waste regulations.
