Mr. Nelson has accepted the Finance Director position for the City of Minnetonka.

Darin has been instrumental in solidifying the City of Shakopee's continued position as one of the lowest taxed communities in the Twin Cities and help to deliver a tax cut to the residents of Shakopee in 2019.

The policies and procedures he implemented as Finance Director ensured that the city has multiple fail-safe reviews of financial processes greatly increasing the transparency and oversight of our daily financial transactions. 

In addition, during his tenure meetings between himself, the City Administrator and the public were instituted as the first step in the budget process in order to get public input at the beginning. His creativity with the monthly budget report allows anyone with an interest the ability to get a general read on our budget status. He gets a "big green arrow" for his work as Finance Director.
