The purchase of a John Deere 1570 mower is included in the draft 2020 Capital Improvement Plan (see attached CIP summary sheet EQUIP-20-400). The mower will be purchased under the Sate of Minnesota Contract No. 150842. The quotation from Kibble Equipment is attached and is consistent with the state contract.
Early authorization to purchase this piece of equipment as part of the 2020 CIP is being recommended due to the need for the mower (which is also used as a snow blower) in advance of winter. This would be a new piece of equipment (vs. replacement) added to the city's fleet. For the past two years, the Community Center Recreation staff have rented a unit for snow/ice control. The lease amount for the 6-month winter period is actually more than what we pay with our typical two-year buyback/repurchase for this same unit. This mower will also be used in Public Work Parks Division during the summer months for mowing, which will help with the city's increased mowing needs. The rent will be split, 6-months for Recreation Community Center and 6-months for Public Works Parks Maintenance. | | |
