The City of Shakopee is initiating a text amendment to create minimum standards for driveways and sidewalks on private property.

Currently there is not a driveway standard in place and it has been noted in the field that some of the driveways under construction would not meet these generally accepted minimum requirements, and would likely require repair or replacement prematurely.

This text amendment is intended to memorialize minimum construction requirements for the base preparation and pavement depths. The proposed amendment will require an inspection to take place prior to paving or pouring concrete and would also require a permit for new driveways.
