Discussion:
The replacement of the Holmes Park playground equipment is included in the 2020 Capital Improvement Plan (see attached CIP sheet PA-20-003).
As part of the playground scoping and equipment design/selection, different designs were provided by various vendors. The selected design was part of the public outreach process that included an open house and a survey that was sent to approximately 600 residents (57 responses) within the quarter-mile neighborhood park area.
Three options were presented as follows:
Option A. $73,705.00 Flagship
Option B. $79,500.00 St. Croix
Option C. $78,177.68 Flagship
Option B was selected and was further reduced by the supplier by $300 to fall precisely within budget at $79,200. The purchase and installation of the equipment are being done through the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture Contract No. 119803 with St. Croix Recreation Fun Playgrounds, Inc., out of Stillwater, Minnesota. The quotation form is attached and is consistent with the state contract pricing.
