FROM:Nate Burkett, Assistant City Administrator
TO:Mayor and Council Members
Subject:
Review and consider a policy to guide emergency response procedures and receive update on planned/enacted measures.
Policy/Action Requested:
Approve emergency response policy which gives guidance and authority to the city administrator to take appropriate action in emergency situations.
Recommendation:
Approve policy as requested.
Discussion:

Due to the COVID-19 concerns, staff has prepared a policy which provides the city administrator with guidance and authority in the event of an emergency.

As this situation is currently evolving, suggested changes to the policy may happen between agenda publication and the city council meeting.

With situations like this it is important that we have flexibility to protect the safety and welfare of the public and our employees. This policy is designed to give maximum flexibility while providing council direction on the prioritization of services.

As with any emergency situation, conditions on the ground are going to impact the decisions we make. So this policy is intended to be broad and to allow for decisions to be made quickly. Council will be kept aware, and have the opportunity to review operational decisions made by the administrator and staff.
