Staff recommends that the Council adopt the attached resolution setting a public hearing date for the vacation of public drainage & utility easements for property located north of CSAH 16, west of Kelly Circle, and east of CSAH 18. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
Shakopee Public Utilities Commission (SPUC) own two lots located north of CSAH 16, west of Kelly Circle, and east of CSAH 18. There exist perimeter public drainage and utility easements that they would like to vacate. Additionally, they have submitted a Minor Subdivision application to combine the properties, which currently have previously approved water tanks located on them. They are planning to construct a booster station on this property, so they are effectively cleaning up the sites in anticipation of this site improvement. City staff support this vacation, as there is no need by the city to located utilities in these easements.
The attached Resolution No. 7882 sets a public hearing date of Tuesday, June 20, 2017 to consider the vacation of the easements. On that date, comments from staff members and utilities, as well as a recommendation from the Planning Commission, will be presented to the City Council for consideration. The Planning Commission will consider the request at its June 8, 2017 meeting.
