Donation from the Shakopee Lions Club for the Lions Park Fund, Res. No. 7891
Policy/Action Requested:
Offer Resolution No. 7891, A Resolution of the City of Shakopee, MN Accepting A Donation from the Shakopee Lions Club for the Lions Park Fund and move its adoption.
Recommendation:
Recommend accepting the donation from the Shakopee Lions to be used at a later date for improvements to Lions Park.  
Discussion:

The Shakopee Lions Club has had a commitment to improve Lions Park. In previous years the Lions Club has donated funds to the City to hold in a Lions Park account until an improvement project is identified. With the funds the Lions Club has helped to fund new roofs on the park shelters, updates to the Lions park bathrooms, a new grill at shelter 1 and in 2016 the remaining funds donated by the Lions Club were used towards the Fun For All Inclusive Playground.

 

The Lions Club has raised additional funds through their charitable gambling and would like to once again donate these funds to the City to hold in the Lions Park fund until a project is identified. The amount they would like to donate at this time is $20,000.

Budget Impact:
The Finance Director has approved the ability to hold these funds as the city has done in the past. Funds donated to improve Lions Park will reduce the amount of city funds needed from the Park Asset Fund or General Fund when an improvement project is needed.
