| | | | | | | | Shakopee Planning Commission Meeting June 8, 2017
|
| | | | | | | | | FROM: | Mark Noble, Senior Planner | | TO: | Shakopee Planning Commission |
|
| | | | | | | | Subject: Vacation of Public Drainage & Utility Easement |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Shakopee Public Utilities Commission (SPUC) is requesting that the Planning Commission forward to the City Council a recommendation approving their vacation of public drainage & utility easements for their property located on Kelly Circle. |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Planning Commission forward a recommendation of approval for the vacation of public drainage & utility easements for property located north of CSAH 16, west of Kelly Circle, and east of CSAH 18. |
| | | | | | | | Discussion: SPUC own two lots located north of CSAH 16, west of Kelly Circle, and east of CSAH 18. There exist perimeter public drainage and utility easements that they would like to vacate (see attached easement exhibit). Additionally, they have submitted a Minor Subdivision application to combine the properties, which currently have previously approved water tanks located on them. They are planning to construct a booster station on this property, so they are effectively cleaning up the sites in anticipation of this site improvement. City staff support this vacation, as there is no need by the city to located utilities in these easements.
City departments, Scott County and other outside agencies were given the opportunity to review and provide comments regarding this application. Those conditions will be incorporated into a Resolution for the City Council’s consideration.
A public hearing has been set for Tuesday, June 20, 2017. On that date, comments from staff members and utilities, as well as a recommendation from the Planning Commission, will be presented to the City Council for consideration.
