Community Center/Ice Arena Update

The end of the project is in sight! The pool decking is complete and the pool is fully enclosed. All the storefront windows of the pool bump out are in and the contractors are now completing the finishing touches. The painting company is busy finishing the paint and completing all touchups. The muralist has begun laying out the pool mural. The plan is to fill the pool the week of June 19th and get all mechanical units up and running. Chemicals will be balanced the week of June 26th. All of the play feature will be installed the last week of June 26th.

The upper level is near completion. The new fitness center and fitness studios are open and being used by the members of the Community Center. Final punch list items are still being completed. The playground was delivered and has been installed. There are two items that are on backorder and will be delivered in the next couple of weeks. The playground may remain closed until the members only celebration night. Details on this event are still being finalized. Staff has ordered furniture for the Teen Center and will be working next on the drop in child care area. Staff is also working on wall and window décor throughout the facility.

The entire project is still on schedule and on budget. The planned completion date is June 30, 2017. The Grand Re-Opening has been set for Sunday, September 10th from 1-3 pm. Please mark your calendars.

Park Development Update

Quarry Lake Park

Public Works met with the irrigation and electrical sub contractors this past week to verify everything is in working order. The contractor will be completing the final punch list items. Public works staff installed signage throughout the park to inform the public that the water of the lake is closed to the public and for the waterski association use only. Staff will be meeting with the SPLWSA to discuss site cleanup within the next two weeks.

Fun For All Inclusive Playground

The donor board has been ordered. It is tentatively scheduled for install on July 12th. Once final confirmation is received, a donor appreciation event will be held and the sign will be unveiled.

Tahpah Park West

The Tahpah Park west baseball field is starting to take shape.  Despite all the rain the contractors have been able to continue working. The main grounds area (not the ball field) was seeded this last week. The irrigation is being installed for the ball field and the fencing has been ordered. There is still the top soil that needs to be installed. Substantial completion is scheduled for July 1.
