The City Council has requested that RFP's be issued for city-wide refuse and recycling collection and disposal. The overall RFP suggests a system similar to our current system, but contemplates certain changes to the system and administration. Some of the highlights are:

1. Recognizes the unique situation related to cart management and requests proposers to identify a methodology to resolve.

2. Specifies customer service requirements including a more active role on social media, hosting a Shakopee-specific webpage, and a preference for a local call center.

3. Requests cost proposals for every week recycling option.

4. Requests proposals for a trial organics collection system.

The RFP will be issued within one or two days after council approval, and will be due on March 23, 2021. After the due date, staff will review and begin to outline contract terms with a contractor with the intention being to have the council consider on May 18, 2021.
