The MPCA opened a grant for qualified proposers to install Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in places available to the general public and workplaces in Minnesota. The purpose of this grant is to increase use of EVs in place of gas-powered cars to reduce tailpipe emissions, including greenhouse gas emissions, in the state.

The City of Shakopee will be applying for two EV charging stations. The grant allows for a maximum of $7,500 to be used towards each dual port station. Each charging station will be available for public use.

The city will be partnering with Shakopee Public Utilities, who will help with installation and set-up of the charging stations.
