Southwest Metro Intermediate School District has applied for a conditional use permit for a school at Shakopee Town Square Mall. The proposal is an adjustment to the existing area used by the district within Town Square Mall. Southwest Metro Intermediate District has leased space at Town Square Mall for several years. This request brings the district into compliance with the zoning ordinance.

The proposed use involves a flexible classroom space for ten staff members to serve up to 45 students from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition to the classroom / flex space: the following is included, a small office, three small individual rooms, and two bathrooms. The area of the total space is 5,285 square-feet. Town Square Mall has adequate parking for employees, adequate access for transportation for students and access to utilities.

Staff recommends approval of the request, subject to conditions.
