Application to the DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant
Policy/Action Requested:
Adopt Resolution R2021-034, approving the application to the 2021 DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant.
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution R2021-034.
Discussion:

The Memorial Park Conversion project has been approved in the city's 2021 - 2025 CIP (PA-22-10). The city's Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan also provides guidance for the conversion of Memorial Park.

 

The Outdoor Recreation Grant funds projects primarily for development, redevelopment or rehabilitation of outdoor recreation facilities. The Memorial Park playground and trail sections of the total conversion is considered a rehabilitation project which qualifies for this grant.

 

The maximum amount of funding for the Outdoor Recreation Grant is $250,000. The city will be asking for the maximum grant amount.

Budget Impact:
The DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant requires a 50% match. The total project cost is estimated at $780,000. The city has this amount budgeted in the CIP.
