Application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Alternative Landscaping Equipment Grant. 
Policy/Action Requested:
Adopt Resolution R2021-042, approving the application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Alternative Landscaping Equipment Grant.  
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution R2021-042.
Discussion:

The MPCA is offering grant funding to replace 2-cycle gasoline-powered landscaping and snow removal equipment with electric-powered equipment. Gasoline-powered landscaping equipment is a significant source of air emissions in urban areas, impacting the health of equipment operators and the populated communities they serve. 

The city is applying for several small-cost electrical equipment, as follows:

  1. Self-propelled  Lawn Mower Model RMA 510  
  2. Cordless String Trimmer Model FSA 90R
  3. Leaf Blower Model BGA 86
  4. Chain Saw 14’’ Model MSA 220 C-B
  5. Concrete Saw Model TSA 230
  6. Hedge Trimmer Model HAS 66
  7. Battery Packs Model AP 300S
  8. Battery Chargers Model AL 500

 

The cost estimate for the above listed equipment comes to $3,776.26.

Budget Impact:
The grant requires a 50% match which is covered in the 2021 Public Works' Streets and Parks operating budget.
