Community Center/Ice Arena Update

The City Council approved the PRAB's recommendation for fees changes beginning January 1, 2018. Staff has sent out a notice to all Community Center members regarding this change. Staff will continue to communicate with the membership as the membership fee change gets closer.

We continue to look for qualified part-time staff, specifically lifeguards. It is a struggle metro wide but please pass it on that we have part-time job openings. We have been changing the hours of the pool depending on the amount of staffing available. It is our goal to have a consistent schedule for pool hours.

Park Development Update

Tahpah Park West

The Tahpah Park west baseball field is substantially complete. Staff is still working with the contractor on the final punchlist items. Some of the items include; concrete and fencing corrections. The Shakopee Youth Baseball Association constructed the pitching mounds, bull pens and batters box. The Association is working to obtain funding for a scoreboard and dugout roofs.

Quarry Lake Phase I & II

Phase I is complete with the exception of a few minor punchlist items. Plans are currently being finalized for Phase II. Park Dedication Fees have been paid from two multifamily housing developments securing funding for Phase II. Staff will present the plans of Phase II to the City Council for approval to bid over the winter of this year.
