Subject:
Resignation of Nate Burkett as the Assistant City Administrator
Policy/Action Requested:
Acceptance of Mr. Burkett's resignation as the Assistant City Administrator with regret
Recommendation:
Approval
Discussion:

Mr. Nate Burkett has tendered his resignation effective April 30, 2021 with his last day in  the office being April 23 (although he will be participating in the annual City Clean Up Day on Saturday April 24). His letter of resignation is attached.

Mr. Burkett has accepted the position of City Manager for the City of West St. Paul.

In the four and a half years that Nate has been a part of the team here, the City of Shakopee has moved forward many crucial projects including overseeing the construction of city hall, implementing the city's strategic plan, and spearheading our race equity and diversity efforts. He has also been the primary contact for our partnership with the Shakopee School District as a sponsor of the Health and Human Services Leadership Academy. He was recently awarded the Administration Leadership Award for these and other efforts.

Nate has been a perfect fit for the organization as Assistant City Administrator. He is very capable and brought a lot of thoughtful analysis and introspection to the organization. Many of the accolades that the city has received in the last several years can be traced to his involvement.

We wish him the best as he starts his new role in West St. Paul and look forward to reading about his future successes.
