The City of Shakopee is requesting a street name change for an existing segment of street in Horizon Heights 2nd Addition. The existing street is a 160' long dead end stub from Foothill Trail to the recently approved Whispering Waters development. The approved street design of the Whispering Waters development contemplates 20th Avenue as a predominately north-south roadway that intersects with 22nd Avenue (see attached area plat).

The purpose of the name change is to follow the City of Shakopee street grid / addressing convention that numbered avenues are East - West running roadways. There are no houses that access 20th Avenue, so no address changes would be required. The developer is aware of Shakopee's street naming convention and has proposed the name Brookview Street to follow the grid / naming convention and avoid confusion for the addressing of two numbered avenues that intersect with each other (20th and 22nd Ave).
