Discussion:
The city acquired three homes and an out building as part of the riverfront marina park area. Through a lengthy review process, two of the homes have been cleared for demolition by the State Historic Preservation Office. The Schroeder House and an original brick out building will remain.
While investigating the area, a concrete holding tank was identified from a former bait business. This tank presents a possible liability and will be added to the demolition and removal process.
The contract documents also include the removal of asbestos and other environmentally regulated materials.
Once the houses are removed, staff will be bringing forward as part of the CIP process the rehabilitation of the remaining properties along with future improvements to the entire site.
