| | | | | | | | Subject: Professional Services Agreement with WSB and Associates, Inc., for design and construction services for the Utility Extension Project at Maras Street, 13th Avenue, and Hansen Avenue. | | |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Authorize the execution of a Professional Services Agreement with WSB and Associates, Inc., for design and construction services in the amount of $722,058 for the Utility Extension Project Sewer-21-001 at Maras Street, 13th Avenue, and Hansen Avenue. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Authorize execution of the agreement. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
On April 20, 2021, City Council adopted Resolution R2021-053, ordering improvements and preparation of plans and specifications for the Utility Extension at Maras Street, 13th Avenue, and Hansen Avenue (see attached CIP summary sheets Sewer-21-001).
Additionally, on May 25, 2021, City Council and Shakopee Public Utilities Commission met to discuss funding options for property owners to pay their portion of the project. The funding options discussed in that meeting will be presented during a resident informational meeting that will be conducted during the design process.
City staff needs assistance from a design consultant to complete the design and bidding phase. City staff have worked with WSB to develop a scope of work and professional services agreement needed to deliver the plans and specifications. WSB has the experience, technical skill and capacity to provide the needed services and is part of the city's approved consultant pool. The attached Professional Services Agreement authorizes and describes the scope and fees for their work on this project. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact:
The scope of the WSB Professional Services Agreement is proposed to cost (not to exceed) $722,058. This work is budgeted in the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Fund. Upon completion of the design services, detailed and updated construction cost information will be provided to confirm project scope and cost needed to construct the project.
