FROM:Darin Manning, Project Coordinator
TO:Mayor and Council Members
Subject:
Award a contract for the Canterbury Wayfinding Project.
Policy/Action Requested:
Approve a contract with Safety Signs LLC, for the Canterbury Wayfinding Project CIF-20-014 in the amount of $42,533.43.
Recommendation:
Award a contract.
Discussion:

The city's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) contains the Canterbury Commons (2021) - 12th Avenue & Wayfinding Project.  A part of this project includes implementing an areawide wayfinding system that includes the installation of permanent signage within the vicinity of the Canterbury site  (see attached proposed construction plan sheet).

The estimated cost to install the wayfinding signage is $42,533.43 (see attached proposal). Safety Signs LLC has the capacity and experience for the wayfinding installation.  They are prepared to begin work as needed with final completion of the wayfinding installation by July 14, 2021, in advance of the Twins Cities Summer Jam event.

Budget Impact:
The Canterbury Wayfinding project is budgeted in the 2021 Capital Improvement Plan as part of the Canterbury Commons Development Tax Incremental Funding.  The wayfinding signage estimate falls within the project budget amount of  $250,000.  It should be noted that another component of this CIP project is to install the overhead dynamic message sign that will be included and constructed with the CSAH 83 reconstruction project.
