| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Accept the generous donation of $30,000 for the Memorial Park bridge project. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
On May 17, 2016 the city accepted a $10,000 donation from the SMSC for the Memorial Park bridge project. The SMSC continues to support this project and has provided the city with another generous donation of $30,000. A letter of appreciation, on behalf of the city, will be sent to the SMSC for their continued support.
The bridge replacement is a unique project located in a area of significant cultural resources. The bridge serves the city as an amenity to Memorial Park and the Department of Natural Resources as a section of the state trail. Because of the significant cultural resources in the area staff is continuing to determine the appropriate location for the bridge. The location needs to impact the area the least and still be cost effective. Due to staff turnover this determination has been not yet been made. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact: The city currently has $450,000 allocated to the bridge project in which $300,000 is federal trail grant dollars. The County may contribute $50,000 and the SMSC has now contributed $40,000. A total of $540,000 is therefore currently available for the project. | | |
