City staff and MKSK are continuing the work of creating the city's 2040 Comprehensive Plan, Envision Shakopee. Staff would like to provide the Planning Commission with an update on the project and facilitate a discussion about the vision for the future and the goals, strategies, and tactics necessary to implement that vision. A few members of the Planning Commission met with the consultant at the beginning of the study. This update and discussion presents another opportunity for commission members to provide feedback on the plan. 

The website for the comprehensive plan is https://envisionshakopee.com/ . The Envision Shakopee website is a clearinghouse of information on the plan and is interactive with fields for comments, suggestions, and interactive maps to note favorite places, or places that need improvement. As residents, committee members are permitted and encouraged to provide input on the website.

To be prepared for discussion, the committee is asked to explore the website and be prepared to share comments relating to transportation, land use, housing, economic development and priority issues. The current 2030 Comprehensive Plan is posted on the Envision Shakopee website and commissioners are encouraged to review relevant chapters. The October 19 community workshop is posted on the website. Staff will provide a cursory review of the information shared at the workshop at the meeting. 

The second community workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. Commission members are strongly encouraged to attend.
