At the December 7 Planning Commission meeting the Planning Commission reviewed the request and by a vote of 6-0 recommended that the City Council approve the proposed annexation. Both staff and the Planning Commission recommend that the City Council adopt the resolution as presented.

Randy Kubes, representing Roger and Susan Sames, property owners, has requested the annexation of a 10-acre property at 12495 Marystown Road, including the adjacent right-of-way of Marystown Road. The property is currently within Jackson Township and is adjacent to the City of Shakopee. The applicant intends to re-zone the property to R1B, Urban Residential and develop single-family homes on the site. 

The proposed annexation is consistent with the Orderly Annexation Agreement language between the City and Jackson Township, as the property is directly adjacent to the city and the landowner has signed the annexation application. If approved, the applicant intends to begin the review process for a rezoning to R1B, Urban Residential and preliminary / final plat immediately.
