| | | | | | | | Subject: Purchase a Street Anti-icing Brine Maker for Public Works Street Division. | | |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Authorize the early purchase of a street anti-icing brine maker from Aspen Equipment in the amount of $66,336.00. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Authorize the purchase. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
Purchase of a de-icing brine maker is planned in 2022 and is included in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), see attached CIP summary sheet Equip-22-422. The brine maker would be purchased under State of Minnesota Contract No.174686 through Aspen Equipment. The quotation form is attached and consistent with state contract pricing.
Advance purchase of the equipment is requested as a result of expected supply delays as well as the need for the equipment for the 2021-22 winter operations. In the interim, the city will obtain brine from Scott County.
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact:
The 2022 CIP includes a budget of $78,000. The estimated total purchase amount is $66,336 which is $11,664 (15 percent) under budget. The purchase is budgeted in the Equipment Internal Service Fund.
