Approve Resolution R2018-007 authorizing the application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG).
Recommendation:
Approve Resolution R2018-007.
Discussion:

In 2006 the Shakopee Fire Department (SFD) received an AFG to purchase their first 40 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Being over 10 years old and requiring more time and money to fix them, it is more cost effective to purchase new ones. The SFD is requesting funding for 10 SCBA and 24 face masks which are currently considered obsolete by the National Fire Protection Agency. 

 

The SFD is applying for $77,400 for the 10 SCBA and $15,640 for the 23face masks for a total of $93,040.

Budget Impact:
The AFG requires a monetary 10% match for fire departments serving populations between 20,000 and 100,000. The Fire Department has money in the budget to cover the 10% match.
