On November 3, 2021 the City Council authorized opting-in to the national opioid settlement agreement to resolve opioid litigation against the three largest pharmaceutical distributors. On December 8, 2021, the city received notice from Attorney General Ellison that an agreement had been reached regarding distribution of the settlement (attached).
According the the agreement, Minnesota will receive almost $300M from the settlements and the City of Shakopee will receive 0.2879873611373% of 75% of the final settlement amount that will be distributed to local governments including all counties and 33 cities. Final numbers will be determined by the overall degree of participation by cities and counties.
