Council is asked to approve the purchase of additional civil defense sirens using Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Council has previously supported using these funds for this purchase. The police department is looking to purchase three new sirens, upgrade an additional siren head, and move a current siren with this purchase. this will dramatically increase and improve coverage area throughout the city.
The last time the city purchased an additional siren was during the Southbridge development. As the city has grown, so has our need to expand coverage. This purchase improves current coverage and covers recently annexed locations. The total project cost is $85,567.00.
