Adopt Ordinance O2022-011 modifying Shakopee City Code Section 31.04 Salaries of Mayor and Council Members increasing the annual council salary from $7,500 to $9,000.

Staff has conducted a survey of salaries for councilmembers and mayors in our comparable cities (attached).

The survey indicates that our current council salaries of $625 per month/$7,500 annually are lower than the average comparable salary of $749 per month/$8,989 annually. As such the staff recommendation is to increase council salaries to $750 per month/$9,000 annually. There is no recommendation to change the salary of the mayor.

Salaries were last adjusted in August 2013. Prior to that they were adjusted in January of 2006. The increase would go into effect January 1, 2023.
