The city's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) contains the Mill Pond Weir Repair Project, which consists of repairing the Mill Pond weir structure that was damaged during a large storm event in 2014 (see attached CIP summary sheet).
Quotes were solicited and opened on January 19, 2018. Four quotes were received and New Look Contracting, Inc., from Rogers, Minnesota, is the low bidder in the amount of $99,820 (see attached quotation tabulation). New Look Contracting, Inc., has the capacity and experience for the project and is deemed a responsible bidder. They are prepared to begin work late winter with a completion of May 2018 . | | |

The CIP identified a project budget of $100,000 for the Mill Pond Weir Project. The awarded construction cost ($99,820) plus contingency, engineering, administration, and legal costs (estimated $35,000) combine for a total project budget of $134,820, which is 34.8 percent over the CIP budget.
While the project is over budget from the original underestimation, the bids accurately reflect the work needed to repair the failed weir.
Project funding is from the Storm Drainage Fund. There is adequate reserve in the Storm Drainage Fund to fund the revised budget amount. | | |
