Subject: Extension to allow the extension of the noise ordinance until 11PM for July 21, 22 and 23, 2022 for the Twin Cities Summer Jam.


Policy/Action Requested: Approve Noise Variance Request for Canterbury to extend noise ordinance until 11PM for July 21, 22, and 23, 2022 for the Twin Cities Summer Jam


Recommendation: Approve request


Discussion: Canterbury in partnership with a promoter held the Twin Cities Summer Jam in 2019 and 2021. Council approved the 11PM extension for those events. There was an atmospheric event last year on Friday night that caused sound to travel as far as Eden Prairie. There were no issues on Saturday night. This year, Canterbury will continue to monitor the sound system to ensure that levels are maintained to city standards. This year the event is scheduled for Thursday July 21, Friday July 22 and Saturday July 23. Thursday evening is Fabulous Armadillos and Hairball, Friday is Callista Clark, Kidd G, Nelly and Kane Brown and Saturday is Mason Dixon Line, 38 Special, Elvie Shane, Trace Adkins and Blake Shelton. The event attracts people from throughout the state.
