Discussion:
The EDA has been providing $25,000 a year to the Chamber to assist in funding the Main Street Program. Last year the contract was changed to provide support for programs like Rhythm on the Rails. The city's Economic Development Coordinator is providing economic development support for the Main Street Program while the Chamber's Main Street Director is event focused.
We have added to the 2023 contract the city's control of the existing Chamber billboard on CH101. This is a grandfathered billboard, controlled by the Chamber under an annual contract to a specific user. Currently it is leased to Mortgage Avenue.
The EDA staff and Chamber staff will work together on new messaging for the billboard that could include promoting events and other economic development messages to the community. This change will add $7,800 to the contract for annual rental of the billboard. The EDA will also pay for the billboard graphics, which will be approximately $10,000 a year (it is a Tyvek-like printed material).
