Omar Karshe has applied to vacate a 5-foot-wide portion of a platted drainage and utility easement on the west side of his lot at 7006 Oak Ridge Court (see attached exhibit). Mr. Karshe has also applied for a minor subdivision to subdivide his lot to allow for the construction of a single-family house approximately the same size as his existing house.

The proposed vacation allows for more flexibility in the design of a future house on the proposed new lot. Since there are no existing or planned future utilities in this 5' wide easement corridor, the Public Works and Engineering Department, Shakopee Public Utilities and the other utility companies recommend approval of the request, provided a drainage and utility easement on each side of the new lot line is dedicated. Both of the proposed lots of the minor subdivision meet the requirements of R1B, Urban Residential zone. 

At the December 8th Planning Commission meeting, the Commission voted 6-0 to recommend the City Council approve the proposed vacation.
