Discussion:
Previously on March 20, 2007, City Council approved a MOU for the SMSC's long range transportation plan and for the 1.06 mile of McKenna Road. This agreement acknowledged routes in the City of Shakopee that serve the tribal community, tribal businesses and tribal member houses.
The previous agreement acknowledges that McKenna Road will remain open to the public for travel and would be eligible for funding of improvements by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
Attached is a new agreement between the State, County, City of Shakopee and Prior Lake with the SMSC and BIA for routes affecting SMSC interests.
The additional route in Shakopee is Marschall Road, north of County Road 101 and Bluff Avenue, 0.2 mile west of Marschall Road. A portion of County Road 101 from Marschall Road to 0.4 mile east is also included.
The MOU states the routes included will continue to be owned by the State, County, City of Shakopee and City of Prior Lake and will remain open to the public for travel.
The SMSC has an interest in ensuring these routes are maintained and in adequate repair.
Finally, the MOU and the parties agree that if funding for improvements is available by the BIA, it could be used for designated routes.
