Reimbursement Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company for Preliminary Engineering Services for Stagecoach Road Rail-Crossing Improvements.

Approve Reimbursement Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company.

Discussion:

The City's draft 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) programs the rehabilitation of Stagecoach Road, along with the construction of a pedestrian trail between Hentges Way and 13th Avenue in 2025. Construction of the improvements will require modifications to the existing Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP) at-grade rail crossing. 

 

The City is partnering with UP to create project-delivery efficiencies. The Agreement establishes the scope of services and estimated costs for UP to complete preliminary engineering design of the crossing improvements. The crossing improvements are planned to be completed by UP in coordination with the City's improvements in 2025. 

Budget Impact:
The City will reimburse UP 100% of the actual costs incurred by UP for the preliminary engineering of the improvements, estimated at $35,000. Funding for the project is included in the CIP from the Capital Improvement Fund.
