Resolution Authorizing Preparation and Submittal of Grant Application

The Metropolitan Council is currently accepting grant applications for the 2024 Regional Solicitation for Federal Transportation funding for local projects. This round of solicitation is for funding availability in 2027 or 2028. City staff have reviewed the Notice of Grant Opportunity for eligible projects that meet the grant requirements. 

The Stagecoach Road Improvement Project is included in the city’s adopted Capital Improvement Plan and includes construction of a pedestrian trail from the Stagecoach Road roundabout to 13th Avenue. This project is expected to be a competitive project in the Multiuse Trails and Bicycle Facilities category of the grant solicitation. City staff are recommending City Council authorization to submit this project for the 2024 Regional Solicitation Grant Application.

The applications require a 20% local match. The adopted CIP does not include grant funding for the improvements. If the City is successful in receiving the grant, those funds would reduce the current programmed City funds for the project.
