For several years the Chamber and the city have looked for an appropriate location for a mural downtown.  The owner of the Lewis Street building has agreed to have a mural installed on the southern side facing the Lewis Street Parking Lot.  

City staff worked with the Communication staff to develop a concept that is supported by the Shakopee Chamber and Main Street.

The Shakopee Main Street program was awarded a grant of $7,500 from RETHOS towards the mural's cost of approximately $25,000.  The remaining costs will be paid from the EDA with an installation in spring 2024.  The mural will be printed on a special 3M mural material that will have protective film on the lower level.
