The Scott County Community Development Agency (CDA) has purchased the former Central School site from the Shakopee School District. The CDA plans on constructing 60 units of senior housing along with a new office building for the CDA.

The CDA is applying for a Redevelopment Grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development for soil correction to assist in construction of the project and part of the grant requirements is a resolution of support from the city.

Later this year, the CDA will be submitting plans for the site that will include a Comprehensive Plan Amendment along with a rezoning application.  The project will be similar in design to the Henderson that the CDA constructed to the east of this site.  The office component would be a one story building along 5th Avenue East.
