| | | | | | | | Subject: Intergovernmental Agreement between the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), City of Shakopee and Scott County for the Construction and Maintenance of a Traffic Signal at the CSAH 83 & Valley View Drive/Tintaochanku Intersection | | |
| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Approve Intergovernmental Agreement between SMSC, City of Shakopee and Scott County for County owned traffic signal. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Approval of the Agreement. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
The City's adopted 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of CSAH 83 & Valley View Drive/Tintaochanku, CIF-25-010 (see attached CIP Sheet). SMSC is leading the design and construction of the improvements, and is in process of preparing plans and specifications for the traffic signal, which is planned to be constructed in 2024. Scott County will own and maintain the traffic signal system. The City and SMSC will share the responsibility for the maintenance of the emergency vehicle pre-emption system, street lighting and electrical power, consistent with other County-owned signal systems in the City.
The Intergovernmental Agreement will establish the obligations and costs for construction and maintenance of the new traffic signal. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact: The City's adopted 2024-2028 CIP programs $140,000 in 2025 for the City's share of the traffic signal improvements. Future ongoing signal related expenses will be included in the Street Maintenance Operating Budget. | | |
