| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Approve a contract with Bituminous Roadways, Inc. for the Trenchless Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project, in the amount of $48,600.00. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Approve contract as requested. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
Through routine sanitary sewer televising, staff discovered that the existing sanitary sewer service for SandVenture pool is in poor condition and requires replacement. The existing service consists of mostly vitrified clay pipe with a small portion that is ductile iron pipe. At the location where the clay pipe and ductile iron pipe connect, the clay pipe is broken and settled and several joints show signs of root intrusion from adjacent trees. To limit excavation and tree removals surrounding the pool that would be required to remove and replace the pipe, staff is recommending a trenchless pipe replacement method. This method provides a new service pipe but will not require removal of any mature trees adjacent to SandVenture.
Quotes for the improvements were solicited and opened on April 11, 2024. Two quotes were received and Bituminous Roadways, Inc. is the low bidder in the amount of $48,600.00 (see attached quote tabulation). Bituminous Roadways has the capacity and experience for the project and is deemed a responsible bidder. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact: The project was not previously planned for in the CIP but due to the potential for inflow/infiltration and failure leading to sewer backups, the project should be undertaken at this time. The project will be paid for by the Sanitary Sewer Fund which has sufficient funds to cover the project expenses. | | |
